Wrestlers Contenders Fighters And Servants

We are all wrestlers. The issue is what we wrestle against. We either wrestle against the word of God or we wrestle against evil. There is no neutral ground on any issue. The Scriptures clearly teach the differences between good and evil. We have no excuse for not studying the Bible and learning those differences. Vance Havner taught that we get in trouble when we mix black and white and get gray. There is nothing good in gray areas or between good and evil. If we make decisions based on anything other than the Bible, we enter black areas or gray areas. There isn*t any worthwhile difference between evil and half-evil. Neither evil or half-evil are good. There isn*t any worthwhile difference between black areas and gray areas. Neither black or gray areas are white.

Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

2 Peter 3:14: Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

We are all contentious. The issue is what we contend for. We contend for the faith or we contend for the world, the flesh and the Devil. Again, we need to stay out of the gray areas. Do you contend for the faith or for something else?

Jude 1:3: Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

When we contend for the faith, the God of peace is with us, we are at peace with Him and we are enemies of evil.

Romans 15:33: Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

Philippians 4:7: And the peace of God, which is deeper than all knowledge, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

It might sound strange, but those who contend for the faith are peacemakers.

Matthew 5:9: Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Those who contend for anything other than the faith contend for spiritual wickedness.

Isaiah 48:22: There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.

Proverbs 13:10: Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

Contenting for the faith is the only sort of contention that does not come from pride. The ONLY THING Christians should contend for is the faith.

We are all fighters. The issues are whether we fight for God or against Him or whether we fight for evil or against it. So what do you wrestle with? What do you contend for? What do you fight for?

We are all servants. The issue is whether we serve sin or righteousness. There are no true gray areas between sin and righteousness. What do you serve, sin or righteousness?

Romans 6:17: But praise be to God that though you were the servants of sin, you have now given yourselves freely to that form of teaching under which you were placed; 18 And being made free from sin you have been made the servants of righteousness.

Revelation 3:15: I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
